Above and Beyond At The Atlanta Coliseum

Above and Beyond is one of the largest names in electronic dance music. They graced Atlanta with a rare visit. They have been around for over a decade. Their well-known radio podcast, “Group Therapy,” has over 200 episodes. If you need more reason to see them live then you should check out the review.

Back Stage at Above and Beyond

Music– Otto Yliperttula aka Yotto opened the show starting around 10pm.  Yotto is gaining traction on the Ajuanadeep label. I did recognize his “Personal Space” track from Pete Tong and his music blends perfectly as an opener for Above and Beyond.

Overview of Above and Beyond at the Atlanta Coliseum

Above and Beyond started with blurbs of text on the LED panels announcing their arrival in Atlanta. This all adds to a show that feels both like an escape while proving a beautiful energy that feels refreshing and familiar. Both Yotto and Above and Beyond keep it professional by mixing songs throughout the entire show that belong together instead of mixing in as many famous tracks as they could.

The Light Show at Above and Beyond

Venue – The Atlanta Coliseum is a fitting name due to the layout having a large main floor area on the bottom and two semi-circular surrounding levels that create u-shaped rings around it. One of the biggest strengths of this venue is its size. The group I arrived with rarely had an issue on the ground floor finding space to dance. That is pretty rare at a show of this size. Also there were many bars and beer carts so waiting in line was kept to a minimum. The logistics inside really outshine any other venue in Atlanta because you spend more of your time watching the show. This separates it from many other Atlanta venues. The sound also was well tuned. Stereo and surround panning could be accurately detected and I heard more separation of channels than ever before. The drive or Uber to Duluth is worth it.

Next up show for RSVPATL is PARTYNEXTDOOR at Tabernacle on Nov 14th. Tickets can be found here.
