There are a lot of amazing things about Atlanta & they have been getting attention from event producers big & small. For instance, Trigger Agency of Baltimore. Trigger, has put on Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Fest in Atlanta for the last 4 years & brought the Das Best Oktoberfest to Atlanta for the first time last weekend. A unique aspect of Trigger agency events is in that they tour these events through various cities during the year. Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Fest and Das Best Oktoberfest are just two events in a stable of roughly 11 toured by Trigger.
Now that you know the who, lets get to the what, when & where. Das Best Oktoberfest was held on Saturday October 3rd at Atlantic Station, which by the way is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this month. Despite the gloomy and slightly drizzly day, we went, we drank, & we conjured good times. We learned that in order to Oktoberfest like a pro you need a few things.
A Dope Hat If you didn’t have one, you could pick up at the fest. The selections of hats at the concessions looked surprisingly good and were only $5 a pop. Ahh the joy of not being gouged for merchandise at an event… we bought two.
A Legit Dirndl & Lederhosen After looking for a Lederhosen online and finding nothing but low quality Halloween costume I gave up and decided to just wear my usual diggs. I was really impressed, and at the same time disappointed in my lack of Googleing skills, when I saw the quality of some of the Dirndl & Lederhosen at the fest. A nice couple referred me to germanwear.net for some authentic quality gear.
Yes, they relieve hunger but more importantly they absorb all those beer “samples”. Tickets included free pretzels & after running through the 100+ beer menu we made sure we took advantage.
Carpe diem’ing like a boss
Seizing the day & all that it has to offer, here is a list of all the day seizing we got to.
Getting stomped on in connect four by this chick in the Viking hat. She beat me in 4 moves… don’t ask its embarrassing.
Watching the most epic game of Jenga, they almost needed a ladder… a step stool at the least.
College football on the big screen. Shh! No one bring up the UGA Alabama game. BB&T, you are welcome for the free advertising in my pic. I expect an extra $100 in my bank account… I'll settle for a free peppermint.
Drinking beer with the Fingerhakeln champ, from the Oktoberfest championship trophy.
And last but not least winning tickets to the Oddball Fest to see my boy Aziz Ansari, even though he never responds to any of my facebook or twitter messages. A big thanks to Jay Philpott & Rock 100.5 for the tickets. Check out Jay’s show in the afternoons. All in all it was a good day & a good event which allowed us to relax & have a little fun after a long rat-racy week of getting up at noon and not really getting much work done. We will return to drink another day.
*more Oktoberfest events include : Bucktoberfest Friday, October 16th @ Buckhead Saloon. Come taste the Fall Brews from some of the hottest Breweries in the Nation. First 50 tickets are $5.
